Russian airlines and airports are set to lose access to the international aviation .aero domain zone.

Swiss provider of civil aviation services, SITA, which administers the .aero domain, has reportedly made the decision due to sanctions and the war in Ukraine. The information was communicated to companies through Ru-Center, a Russian organization handling domain registrations.

SITA has ceased its services for clients in Russia as of November 10. After receiving the notification, Ru-Center, the company promptly extended the validity period of all its clients’ domains by one year at its own expense to maintain the functionality of their websites.

Over 200 websites are registered in the .aero domain, including those of around 30 Russian airports and 15 airlines, such as Sheremetyevo, Zhukovsky, Kazan, Pobeda, Azimuth, Yamal, and Ikar.
