Alaska Airlines is continuing to expand its route network with new daily nonstop flights from Seattle/Everett in Washington State and frin Portland, Oregon. The airline launched the flights on Friday, November 17th using the Boeing 737 MAX 9 and 737-900ER, respectively.

Since Alaska began service out of Everett’s Paine Field Snohomish County Airport (PAE) four years ago, the airport has become a more convenient option for a growing number of its passengers. With the addition of Honolulu on November 17th, the carrier serves seven destinations from the airport year-round.

Demand remains strong

The service comes just in time for travelers longing to escape from the Pacific Northwest’s cloudy, cold, and wet winter weather. Alaska’s Vice President of Revenue Management and Network Planning, Kirsten Amrine, commented on the new flights, saying:

“Travel demand to leisure destinations to relax and recharge remains strong, especially to sun and fun locations as cooler weather settles in. Our new nonstop between Seattle/Everett and Honolulu is our first regularly scheduled service connecting Paine Field to Hawaii.”

AS819 departed from PAE at 09:15 local time and arrived at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) at 13:11 local. At the time of publication, the return flight, AS804, is scheduled to leave HNL at 23:25 and arrive on Saturday at 07:32, according to Flightradar24.

“A less congested option”

Located just 25 miles north of downtown Seattle, PAE features a smaller terminal and upscale lounge atmosphere. Alaska is the only airline to offer commercial aircraft service, while Kenmore Air operates scheduled charter seaplane and ‘landplane’ service. Daniel Chun, the airline’s Director of Sales, Community, and Public Relations in Hawaii, highlighted the fact that PAE offers an alternative for travelers wanting avoid congestion at the far-busier Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA).

“For those traveling between Honolulu and Washington State, flying into Seattle/Everett is a less congested option and offers a different way to access the greater Seattle area. With this new flight, we’ll fly a combined six nonstops a day to the two Seattle area airports from Oahu, providing our leisure and business travelers with a variety of flight times that work best for them.”

Alaska operates an average of 30 nonstop, peak-daily flights to Hawaii from eight West Coast gateways: Anchorage, Seattle/Everett, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles, and San Diego.

Portland to Miami

The Seattle-based carrier has been the largest carrier at Portland International Airport (PDX) for more than two decades. On Friday, Alaska added Miami to its list of over 50 destinations served from the airport. The flight to Miami International Airport (MIA), AS441, is a redeye service, departing from PDX at 22:05 local time and arriving at 06:25 local on Saturday. The return flight to PDX, AS440, will leave MIA at 08:00 local and land around 11:15.
