This year’s theme is ‘E Heluhelu Kākou – Moʻolelo” which celebrates the “rich and varied stories that shape our communities.”

Officials will kick off the program on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hawaii State Library and will run through July 31.

Saturday’s event will feature a celebration of storytelling through writing, art, dance, and music.

“In previous challenges, families and friends have enjoyed the opportunity to participate together, fostering a love for reading across generations,” said Stacey A. Aldrich, State Librarian. “Through this program, we aim to both encourage reading and foster a sense of community among our patrons.”

The most exciting part: participants who log at least one hour of reading each week have the chance to win four round-trip tickets from Alaskan Airlines to any location of their choice!
