The mangroves of the Yucatan. The beaches and restaurants of Nassau. The luxury resorts of Grace Bay Beach. The all-inclusive hotspots of Punta Cana.
Southwest Airlines just kicked off a major Caribbean expansion, with new nonstop flights across the wider Caribbean out of the increasingly significant Orlando market.
All of the new routes are daily flights, with service from Orlando International Airport to airports including Cancun, Grand Cayman; Nassau, Turks and Caicos and Punta Cana.
It’s a huge wave of new flights for the region at a time when regional tourism has never been hotter.

It’s no surprise that the new service comes to destinations like Nassau, which has been among the most popular hotspots in the Caribbean, or Turks and Caicos, which continues to see surging tourism arrival numbers and record-breaking hotel occupancy.
All of the routes had previously been operated out of Fort Lauderdale; the shift to Orlando is a sign of its increasing position as a major source market for Caribbean travel, with more and more airlines setting up shop or ramping up their flight networks to the region out of Disney’s hometown.

Southwest already flies nonstop between Orlando and both Aruba and Montego Bay.
So what will the flights cost?
A sample fare between Orlando and Turks and Caicos for travel next week cost about $718.30 roundtrip.
A round-trip ticket from Orlando to Nassau for the same dates cost around $670, while Orlando-Grand Cayman flights went as low as $639, according to Southwest’s Web site.
