Summary
- Fast and long-range: The G600’s Mach 0.925 speed and 6,600 nautical miles range set it apart from competitors.
- Luxury cabin customization: With four zones, quality seats, and noise reduction, the G600 offers a comfortable interior experience.
- Operational efficiency: Steep approach landing approval, 12% lower fuel burn than the G550, and $7,250 per hour operating costs.
The Gulfstream G600 was announced almost a decade ago, and since then, there have been over 130 of the private jets delivered. Taking over from Gulfstream’s popular G550, the long-haul 19-seater jet has proven a hit since its introduction.
Equipped with a max speed of Mach 0.925 and a typical cruising speed of Mach 0.85, the aircraft offers an operational range of up to 6,600 nautical miles, opening up many enviable city pairings worldwide. On top of this, the G600 is equipped with a wide range of cutting-edge features and tech – including its advanced flight deck and safety systems – that make it one of the safest and comfortable private jets to operate.
Gulfstream G600 overview
The Gulfstream G600 was first announced in October 2014 before its eventual entry-to-service nearly five years later, in August 2019. A clean-sheet design, the G600 succeeded Gulfstream’s G550 and offered several enviable upgrades, such as its Symmetry Flight Deck, improved engines and whisper-quiet cabin.

Luxury cabin
The G600’s cabin can be configured with up to four distinct living zones, giving operators an unrivaled degree of customization for their interior. Some of the customizable zone configurations include:
- Conference room
- Fully-equipped galley
- Crew rest area
- Extra lavatory
- Dining room
Seat quality is another major draw of the G600, particularly given that occupants are likely to be embarking on long-haul journeys. Gulfstream uses computerized machining, along with luxury textiles and leather, to craft its seats. When you factor in the aircraft’s advanced noise-reduction features – which cut cabin noise levels down to just 45 dB – it’s easy to see why the G600’s cabin earns such rave reviews.
The jet’s windows were designed to be considerably larger than previous Gulfstream models, allowing more natural light to illuminate the cabin, although mood lighting is also installed. It also offers a low cabin altitude of 4,850 ft to ensure passengers arrive fresh and energized.
Speed and range
Capable of hitting speeds of Mach 0.925, the G600 is one of the fastest large-cabin private jets on the market today. Its max speed exceeds that of its primary competitors – the Bombardier Global 6500 and the Dassault Falcon 8X – making it the choice aircraft for those desiring swift intercontinental travel.

5 Unique Features On The Gulfstream G600
The Gulfstream G600 has over 35 world records for destination city pairs.
With a range of up to 6,600 nautical miles, the jet can connect cities such as New York-Dubai, Los Angeles-Shanghai and London-Beijing without requiring a fuel stop. In fact, when combined with its speed, Gulfstream claims the G600 currently holds speed records on over 35 global city pairings.
Flight deck
The Gulfstream Symmetry Flight Deck was developed for the company’s new G500 and G600 models. featuring ten touch screens, side-mounted active control sidesticks and more for a vastly improved flying experience. Other features include its Enhanced Flight Vision System (EFVS) – which enables landings in low-visibility conditions – and advanced weather radar capabilities.
Operational versatility
While private jets are, of course, more nimble than commercial airliners, some are more capable than others in this respect. The G600 has a takeoff distance of 5,700 ft and a landing distance of just 3,100 ft, which allows it to operate in and out of airports that other private jets can not.
The G600 was also recently authorized by the FAA for steep approach landings, allowing it to operate at certain airports, including London City (LCY).
Efficiency
The G600, equipped with two Pratt & Whitney PW815GA engines, offers a 12% improvement on fuel burn than the G550, making it a more efficient aircraft to operate. According to Aircraft Cost Calculator, the G600 typically costs around $7,250 per hour to operate based on 450 flight hours per year.
