REDDING, Calif. – Starting August 26, Avelo Airlines will discontinue its airline services at the Redding Regional Airport.

Flying from Redding to Burbank might become a thing of the past

The city of Redding said the decision was made after the ground handler—which provides logistical support such as ticketing, luggage handling, and aircraft marshaling to and from the gate—made a business decision to pull out of California entirely.

Avelo Airlines will continue to serve other markets in the state but was left to decide on an airport that has maintained very high passenger loads for each Avelo flight during the airline’s time at the Redding Regional Airport.

A representative with Avelo Airlines has said, “We recently learned the business partner supporting Avelo’s airport operations at Redding Regional Airport (RDD) will no longer be serving RDD. As a result, we’ve made the decision to cancel Avelo’s route between RDD and Los Angeles’ Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), effective August 26. This decision also enables us to better utilize our resources elsewhere in Avelo’s system.”
