Summary
- Ten routes are domestic and operated by seven airlines.
- Six routes are international and operated by four airlines.
- Only one long-haul route is set to begin: London Gatwick-Las Vegas by Norse Atlantic.
Airlines plan to add 16 US routes in September. As always, some are new, and others are resumptions. The list is very different from those that started in August. I am sure as many as possible will make it into my weekly routes newsletter.
One-off flights and charter flights are excluded.
Ten domestic additions
The table below summarizes them in start date order. On September 3,
Delta Air Lines
regional unit, Delta Connection, will begin flying from New York LaGuardia to Tulsa, the carrier’s second Oklahoma route from the Big Apple. It will compete directly with American Eagle’s daily E175 service.

Until 2022, LaGuardia-Tulsa had never been served. Now it will have a record two airlines. Greater NYC had no Tulsa flights for years. Between January 2015 (when United Express ended its longest-served Newark-Tulsa route) and November 2022 (when American Eagle started flying from LaGuardia), everyone had to fly via a hub.

Six international routes
They are shown below. Recall that one-offs are excluded. Despite this, it is worth noting that
American Airlines
plans Philadelphia-São Paulo on September 5 for the NFL, with the return flight on September 7. The Boeing 787-8 will be used.

Only one new long-haul route, Norse Atlantic from London Gatwick to Las Vegas, made the cut. That’s no surprise: September is quite an unusual time to begin them. Many more will take off on/around October 27, when northern airlines switch to winter schedules. Still, my favorite international additions are Aerus’ links to Texas aboard nine-seat Cessna Caravans.
