Aer Lingus, earlier this month, completed renovations and has reopened the airline’s lounge in London’s Heathrow Airport, Terminal 2. From a range of new food and beverage options to improved infrastructure, enabling panoramic views of the airport runway, the airline has turned the lounge into a place where its customers can relax or be productive.
A complete lounge refresh
Irish carrier Aer Lingus
has completed renovations to the airline’s lounge at Terminal 2 of London Heathrow Airport
(LHR). The reopened lounge now features a better use of space, such as a quiet relaxation zone, privacy pods, and even meeting rooms, thereby enabling passengers to relax or get work done, depending on their preference while traveling.
Additionally, the lounge now features a new range of food and beverage options, along with services, such as the newly introduced “all-day coffee barista service,” which passengers can enjoy. The dining options will vary depending on the time of the day, and a variety of snacks or light bites will be available in the lounge throughout the day.
The airline’s Product Manager, Airport Experience & Lounge, Alex McEvoy, states,
This reimagined space delivers what our customers have been asking for and is a testament to team work across Aer Lingus. We are very excited to say ‘You’re Very Welcome’ as we reopen our lounge to customers departing from our London home at Heathrow Terminal 2.
For AvGeeks flying with Aer Lingus out of LHR Terminal 2, the refreshed Lounge also features infrastructure upgrades, thereby providing passengers inside the lounge with Panoramic views of Heathrow’s south runway, giving great views of aircraft landing and departing.
The lounge is accessible to eligible customers
As with most airline lounges, the Aer Lingus lounge at LHR Terminal 2 is accessible only to eligible passengers. First and foremost, Aer Lingus specifies on its website that the carrier’s lounges are accessible to customers flying on “Aer Lingus-operated flights only”.
The eligibility of passengers flying with the airline is further split into the following categories:
- Business Class Customers
- Advantage and AerSpace fare customers (For European flights)
- AerClub Members*
- Eligible bank cardholders
- Pre-paid lounge pass holders
*Eligible for Silver, Platinum, and Concierge
AerClub members

Passengers who are not eligible to access the airline’s lounge, however, do have another option at Heathrow Terminal 2, which is the Plaza Premium Lounge facility available at the terminal, where passengers can gain access to it at prices starting from £40 ($54).
Passengers with access to Priority Pass or Lounge Key programs can gain complimentary access to this lounge.
A new lounge across the Atlantic
The carrier also announced earlier this year that it aims to switch its operations at New York JFK Airport
(JFK) to Terminal 6 in 2026, at which point it will open a new Signature Lounge. While a new lounge facility definitely improves the passenger experience, this move from Terminal 7 to the upcoming Terminal 6 is strategic in terms of offering seamless connections.
By moving to Terminal 6, the carrier can provide easy passenger connections considering Aer Lingus’ codeshare partners, JetBlue and American Airlines, will also be operating from Terminal 6, thereby facilitating a seamless flight transfer/connection experience for passengers.

Additionally, since Shannon Airport (SNN) and Dublin Airport (DUB) have US Pre-clearance facilities, Aer Lingus
passengers arriving at JFK will have a travel experience akin to that of a US domestic arrival
, thus enabling passengers to head straight for their connecting flight or to baggage reclaim.
Overall, this move from Terminal 7 to 6 will enhance the travel experience for passengers arriving and departing with Aer Lingus, while it will also provide the carrier with better operational efficiency.
