Dominica’s Tourism Minister, Denise Charles-Pemberton, has announced that United Airlines will begin direct service to the island of Dominica starting February 15, 2025.
The weekly flights will connect Newark, New Jersey, to Dominica’s Douglas Charles Airport, marking a significant milestone in the country’s air accessibility. The announcement comes after years of strategic planning, investments, and dialogues with stakeholders.
Dominica aims to attract 500,000 visitors by 2030, and the government has been partnering with major carriers like American Airlines and United to build a new international airport.
The new direct flight will benefit Dominicans traveling for business, education, or family visits. The announcement is seen as a testament to Dominica’s recent infrastructure investments, including upgrades to Douglas Charles Airport and runway improvements.
The government plans to focus on establishing direct connections to more distant destinations once the new international airport is operational.
Ticket sales for the new United Airlines service have already begun, offering travelers and locals an easier way to access the “Nature Isle of the Caribbean” starting early 2025.
