After making a couple of calls to 311 for street repair assistance, the last call being a year ago with no results, I came to the conclusion that neither the city nor the state seems to care or take responsibility for two of the worst Airline Highway approaches in the city.
The first is at the intersection of Cedarcrest Avenue and Airline Highway, which consists of maybe 100 feet of surface road at most and has so many potholes and uneven surfaces that you have to slow to a crawl lest you lose the undercarriage of your vehicle. Cedarcrest was resurfaced approximately two years ago, yet the short approach to Airline was left undone. Why that was is quite puzzling. Recently, just a quarter mile down the road, extensive (and I’m sure expensive) work was done to redo the service road access and crossover at Airline. Why did they not move the equipment up the street and repair the end of Cedarcrest?
The next deplorable approach is the Industriplex Boulevard access to Airline Highway, again a terribly rough surface, maybe 50 feet in need of repair. Ironically, the other side, Pecue onto Industriplex was resurfaced a couple of years ago, maybe less. Why these short pieces have been ignored for so long, years to be exact, remains a mystery. Either the city or the state needs to take responsibility and make these improvements, neither of which should be cost-prohibitive.
And, could someone responsible for the traffic lights please change the cycle for Coursey Boulevard at Stumberg Avenue to allow less time for the Coursey traffic, as well Stumberg at Jefferson Highway? In both instances, the Coursey and Jefferson traffic has cleared way before the light changes for the Stumberg traffic to cross or turn, and it’s a reason we have so much traffic backed up.
