Every week, airlines worldwide submit schedule changes to Cirium Diio and OAG. These could include new or cut routes, frequency increases or decreases, equipment swaps, different operating periods, etc. People then look at what’s happening and why.
In the latest update, American Airlines
, Delta Air Lines
, and United Airlines
added nine domestic and international links (both new and returning) to their networks. This article summarizes them while mentioning notable cuts (not simply suspensions).

American’s three additions
Chicago O’Hare, the US and the world’s leading regional jet airport, is the primary winner. When O’Hare-Boise returns, it will become American’s longest regional jet service from the Illinois hub.
- Chicago O’Hare-Bismarck: daily Envoy Air E175 begins June 5. Served by American Eagle until 2018 and United Express until 2020
- Chicago O’Hare-Boise: daily Envoy Air E175 begins June 5. Served by American Eagle until 2022 and still flown by United Express
- Phoenix Sky Harbor-Appleton: Saturday only Envoy Air E175 begins February 15. The airport pair has not previously been served. Allegiant operates from Phoenix-Mesa

Despite only beginning in March 2024, American has scheduled the end of Charlotte-Tulum flights in February. The route was to operate up to daily, although frequencies varied monthly.

More than half of the routes have never been served by any carrier.
Delta has added these three routes
None are from the SkyTeam member’s largest hubs or the country’s fortress hubs. Austin is a growing Delta airport, and Delta and its regional partner, Delta Connection, now plan 23 routes as of November 25. The latest information shows up to 57 daily departures in summer 2025.
- Austin-Jacksonville: daily SkyWest E175 from May 7. A brand-new Delta route. It replaces American/American Eagle, which served it until January 2024. Frontier operated in 2018
- New York LaGuardia-Lexington: daily Endeavor Air CRJ900 from May 7. Last served by Delta Express in 2020. Lexington regains NYC flights for the first time in five years
- New York LaGuardia-Huntsville: daily Endeavor Air CRJ900 from April 14. Last served by Delta Express in 2008. Huntsville regains NYC flights after a 17-year absence

Delta Connection was to fly Minneapolis-Asheville daily from May 7 with Endeavor Air CRJ900s. However, all flights have been removed. Allegiant will still operate, while un Country served it until October 2024.
United’s three additions
Notice Chicago O’Hare-Edmonton, which will have United and WestJet; it’s no coincidence that the former announced it soon after the Canadian operator did. It will be the first time the 1,233 nautical mile (2,284 km) airport pair has had two carriers.
- Chicago O’Hare-Edmonton: three times weekly A319 from May 24. Last served by United Express in 2016. WestJet will start the route on June 4 (three times weekly 737-700/737-800/737 MAX 8)
- Houston Intercontinental-Edmonton: four times weekly A319 from May 22. Last served by United in 2020 (and Continental before that)
- Washington Dulles-Manchester (NH): double daily CommuteAir ERJ145 from May 30. Last served by United Express in 2022
In the year to July 2019, Houston-Edmonton had 39,000 roundtrip point-to-point passengers, obviously driven by oil and energy.
These routes will cease at the end of March
- Newark-Albany: the last flight is on March 29. It was to operate double daily until March 29 and triple daily from March 30. This was to be United’s shortest Newark route
- Newark-Manchester (NH; hence the relaunch of Dulles flights): the last flight is on March 29. It was to operate twice daily
- Newark-Providence: the last flight is on March 29. It was to operate double daily until March 29 and triple daily from March 30. This was to be United’s second-shortest Newark route
