CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A homeowner has been detained and is under questioning early after reportedly shooting a man he says was breaking into his home Tuesday morning. 

A lieutenant with the Corpus Christi Police Department told 3NEWS that the call came in around 4:26 a.m. when that homeowner told dispatch officers that he was holding a person at gunpoint at his home in the 900 block of Airline Road.

Police were on their way to the scene when they head that shots were fired. 

The alleged burglar was reportedly shot several times. 

A fire station right across the street was able to quickly dispatch an ambulance to transport the alleged burglar to a local hospital, and police say their vital signs are stable. 

The homeowner is being detained and questioned at this point. They don’t expect to be here much longer
