The Minister of Tourism, Hon Edmund Bartlett, recently expressed satisfaction with the substantial increase in flights to Jamaica by United Airlines, noting an impressive surge of over 50 per cent since 2019.

This growth was highlighted during a high-level meeting at United’s World Headquarters, attended by the Minister and senior executives from both sides.

United Airlines, with its base at Willis Tower in Chicago, Illinois, boasts a comprehensive network spanning six continents from its seven mainland US hubs.

During the discussions, it was evident that Jamaica remains a priority for United Airlines, reinforced by the planned record-breaking schedule for the upcoming year.

This schedule marks a 15 per cent increase compared to 2023, solidifying Jamaica’s position as a key player in the Caribbean tourism sector.

Sangster International Airport, in particular, stands out as the airline’s third-largest Caribbean hub.

The commitment to operate up to 34 flights weekly from five major United hubs in 2024 underscores the strategic importance of this partnership in enhancing Jamaica’s accessibility to international tourists.
