The federal indictment against Mayor Eric Adams includes a June 22, 2021 text exchange that shows an Adams staffer negotiating a price of discount flight to make it appear “somewhat real” with a Turkish Airlines manager.

“How much does he owe?” asked the staffer, according to a screenshot of the exchange.

“Please, let them call me and I will make the payment.”

Later saying, “I am going to charge $50.”

“No, dear. $50? What? Quote a proper price,” the staffer replied.

“How much should I charge? :),” the Turkish Airlines Manager said.

“His every step is being watched right now. $1,000 or so Let it be somewhat real. We don’t want them to say he is flying for free. At the moment, the media’s attention is on Eric,” the staffer said.

According to the feds that ticket was worth upwards of $15,000.

The exchange continued onto the subject of Adams’ lodgings for the visit.

The Airline employee suggested Adams stay at the Four Seasons, but was rebuffed by the staffer who said that hotel was “too expensive.”

“Why does he care?,” the Airline manager retorted, “He is not going to pay. His name will not be on anything either.”

“Super,” the Adams staffer replied.

A few months later, on December 8th, 2021, that same Turkish Airlines manager attempted to play hardball with the Adams staffer – threatening to dispense with Adam’s flight discount if he was not considered for a spot on the mayoral transition team.

The Adams staffer sent the Turkish Airlines employee a list of possible positions to choose from.

“Have you looked at the list,” the Adams staffer wrote.

“It would suit me well to be lead Or Senior Advisor,” the Airlines Manager replied.After not hearing back for two days he texted, “Lead Plz 🙂 Otherwise seat number 52 is empty … On the way back.”
