Mumbai: A Mumbai- bound Vistara Airlines, carrying 306 people on board, made an emergency landing at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, after receiving a bomb threat on Sunday morning. Following the development, the entire Mumbai airport has been put on high alert. The plane had departed from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

The threat was reported by the airline’s crew at  around 10 am. The plane was carrying a total of 294 passengers and 12 crew members. Issuing a statement, the airlines said, “We confirm that a security concern has been noted by our staff while onboard Vistara flight UK 024 operating from Paris to Mumbai on 2 June 2024.”

Sharing more details, the airlines said that it immediately informed the relevant authorities after receiving the information. “We are fully cooperating with the security agencies for all the mandatory checks,” it added further.

Indigo received similar threat earlier

It is to be noted here that the bomb threat at the Vistara airlines was received just a day after an IndiGo flight that was on its way from Varanasi to New Delhi received a similar threat. After a thorough check at the airlines, the officials, later found that the the information received was fake.

According to a Delhi Police official, a woman informed the airport security that her husband, who was travellling on Indigo flight, was carrying bomb in his bag. During the interrogation, the husband identified as Vimal Kumar (42) a resident of Meerut, informed the police that his wife made the call after watching news report about a bomb threat on an aircraft recently as she was not mentally fit, a report by PTI said.

Issuing a statement, Indigo Airlines had said that the flight 6E 2232, operating from Varanasi to Delhi, received a bomb threat. After landing at the Delhi airport, the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay as per the guidelines of security agency. The crew followed all standard operating procedures,” it added further.
