A Trump activist has accused an American Airlines flight attendant of providing poor service in first class. The passenger alleges she was skipped over during beverage service for wearing a MAGA hat.

American Airlines Flight Attendant Allegedly Provided Poor Service To Trump Activist Wearing MAGA Hat

Heather Mullins claims:

  • She was upgraded to first class on her American Airlines flight, AA1413, from Detroit (DTW) to Philadelphia (PHL)
  • The flight was operated by an Airbus A319, with eight seats in first class
  • Onboard, the first class flight attendant skipped over her (not her seatmate) when serving beverages from front to back
  • When she flagged down the flight attendant to ask about her drink, she was told in the “nastiest” voice, “No. I’ll be back for you.”
  • The flight attendant served every passenger, then came to Mullins to offer her a drink
  • Everyone in the first class cabin witnessed it and would back up her allegation
  • She tried to file a report in Philadelphia, but the ground staff was not helpful
  • Ultimately, American Airlines called her after her tweets went viral, apologized, and explained that the matter would be investigated internally and there would be no more update

Mullins has appeared on this blog before. She snapped a picture of former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie snoring in first class last June in another tweet that went viral.

I presented her side above. She also doxxed the flight attendant, publishing a picture of her and her badge number (I’ve blurred both out):

If Mullins is lying, there is a defamation lawsuit brewing…

I wasn’t there and I don’t know what happened. I’m not going to argue one way or the other, beyond saying:

  • Discriminating against a passenger for wearing a MAGA hat is always unacceptable
  • If Mullins was rude, the flight attendant may have responded with rudeness (not justified, but it could be that instead of the hat)
  • Remember, there were only two rows (eight seats) in first class and it was a short flight, so if the flight attendant sensed hesitation in choosing a drink or was flagged by another passenger or other duties called, she may have skipped her without any malice

View From The Wing says “the whole purpose of wearing it was to trigger others.” No, I don’t think so. I agree that we should leave our political paraphernalia in our bags and not on our bodies because being in a metal tube is tough enough without knowing our seatmate is a total idiot. But if you can’t deal with a MAGA hat or a “Jesus was woke” t-shirt, maybe you should stay home and medicate…

CONCLUSION

A flight attendant who treats passengers badly because of their political views has no business being a flight attendant. But it isn’t clear what happened here and I’m not prepared to side with or against Mullins. I don’t know that we will hear any more about this, but I do hope we will not hear about more incidents like this during this contentious election season.

And once again a simple reminder: treat others the way you wish to be treated. Don’t do unto others what you don’t want done unto you.
