Air Canada is increasing its winter operations to warm destinations later this year, offering services to 55 destinations in the United States and the Caribbean.

Offering warm escapes

As summer has started, airlines are already looking ahead to winter operations, shifting schedules to accommodate demand in certain places. Air Canada announced earlier today it is increasing its operations to warm destinations this winter. Considering its new routes and increased services, Air Canada will operate flights to 55 destinations in the US and the Caribbean.

In a few months, Air Canada will double its routes to Aeropuerto Internacional de Tulum Felipe Carrillo Puerto, one of Mexico’s newest airports. Tulum has grown significantly as a tourist destination, and the new airport is designed to handle up to 5.5 million passengers annually. Currently, Air Canada is flying to Tulum from Montreal and Toronto, and this winter, it will add operations from Ottawa and Quebec City.

From Montreal, Air Canada is adding a flight to Saint Maarten, home of the famous Princess Juliana International Airport. The airport is famous because it is located right next to Maho Beach, where planes fly over mere seconds before landing.

“Air Canada continues to expand the breadth of its winter leisure network by adding new routes to in-demand leisure destinations, including Saint Maarten and Tulum. Air Canada was the first Canadian carrier to launch service to Tulum, the newest airport in Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula, and we are thrilled to expand our services to offer non-stop flights from both Ottawa and Quebec City to this exciting destination.” – Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning, Air Canada

From Toronto, Air Canada will increase flights to Sarasota, New Orleans, Los Cabos, Saint Maarten, Bermuda, and Tulum. From Montreal, flights will be increased to Saint Maarten, Miami, Phoenix, San José (Costa Rica), Providenciales, Fort-de-France, and Tulum. Quebec will see increased service to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Punta Cana, and Cancún.

As mentioned earlier, Air Canada will begin flying from Ottawa to Tulum, but it will also increase services to Tampa, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, and Punta Cana. Vancouver will have two daily flights instead of one to Cancun, and Halifax will have three weekly flights to Tampa.
