PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) – United Airlines is requesting the Department of Transportation to reconsider its decision selecting JetBlue Airways for Essential Air Service at Presque Isle International Airport.

In a Request for Reconsideration filed earlier this week, United argues the decision was arbitrary and not well-reasoned, citing that the Department of Transportation changed service requirements mid-process and gave undue weight to the City Council’s preference. United claims this decision offers less service to the public and ignores the community’s needs and feedback. United is urging the Department to rescind the decision and issue a revised request for proposals with clear requirements and evaluation criteria. United is requesting to remain Presque Isle’s carrier until a carrier is selected under the revised process.
