MOSINEE, Wis. (WSAW) – A low-cost airline that provided service from Central Wisconsin Airport in Mosinee to Orlando, Florida will halt service due to low sales.

Avelo Airlines Head of Communications Jim Olson said Avelo’s final day CWA is Aug. 31.

“Unfortunately, the CWA-MCO route was not profitable, and we do not expect it to be within a reasonable time horizon. Every route Avelo flies must be profitable or be on a trend line towards that goal. Before we commit to a new route, we conduct a thorough analysis of any available and relevant data. In most cases, the routes we enter succeed and we continue to operate them. However, with those that do not we must make the difficult decision to exit them,” Olson said.

Brian Grefe, the airport director of Central Wisconsin Airport said Avelo flights will remain through the end of August. There is no impact to current flights.

Avelo flights were announced last July. It’s service began in October.

Avelo announced similar decisions for five other airports it served: Kalamazoo/Battle Creek (AZO), Greater Binghamton (BGM), Brownsville/South Padre (BRO), Dubuque (DBQ), and Central Region/Lansing (LAN).
