Additional achievements

Since the Gulfstream G700 entered service, it has become the flagship aircraft that Gulfstream envisioned. The President of Gulfstream, Mark Burns, spoke about the important aircraft’s entry into service. He stated,

“We planned for a seamless entry into service for the G700, and this incredible start is a testament to both the maturity of the program and the dedication of the Gulfstream team. Thanks to the investments we made across our business, from research and development to manufacturing and completions, the G700 program is exceeding customer expectations – they are flying their aircraft around the world immediately upon delivery, and the feedback we are hearing is outstanding.”

Deliveries of the aircraft officially began on Tuesday, April 23rd. In addition to the FAA certification, the G700 received type certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on May 20th. Since then, Gulfstream has received type certification validation from eight other nations, including Mexico.

Among the new certifications, Gulfstream revealed that the G700 fleet has recently exceeded a total of 700 flight hours. It has been active in the field, with several new speed records that are currently pending approval by both the US National Aeronautic Association and the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale in Switzerland. The newest city-pair speed records are:

  • Paris, France, to Montreal, Canada, in six hours and 16 minutes
  • São Paulo, Brazil, to White Plains, New York, in eight hours and 46 minutes

Both of these were set at an average speed of Mach 0.90 (690 miles per hour). So far, the G700 has over 50 city-pair speed records.

About the Gulfstream G700

The aircraft was first unveiled in October 2018 and was set to be the main rival to the Bombardier Global 7500. The G700 was approximately ten feet longer than the successful Gulfstream G650 series; the most popular business jet at the time.

Other upgrades were set to be implemented on the new business jet, such as a much further range, top speed, and several avionics upgrades. This is achieved with the help of two Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines, which provide up to 18,250 pounds of takeoff thrust. The aircraft can achieve the following performance measures:

Length

109 feet ten inches

Height

25 feet five inches

Wingspan

103 feet

Maximum takeoff weight (MTOW)

107,600 pounds

Maximum speed

Mach 0.935 (717 miles per hour)

Cruise speed

Mach 0.85 (652 miles per hour)

Range

7,750 nautical miles (8,920 miles)

Service ceiling

51,000 feet

Other upgrades include a newly revamped cabin that is almost 57 feet long and can accommodate up to 19 passengers in a four-zone interior. Inside the cockpit, the aircraft is fitted with the Honeywell Primus Epic flight deck, which includes synthetic and enhanced vision systems.
