A United Airlines flight from Houston to Boston was diverted to Washington Dulles International Airport on Sunday after a customer experienced a “medical issue,” the airline said in a statement.

The airline said “no passengers or crew needed medical assistance upon arrival” at Washington Dulles International Airport. Rob Yingling, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, also said in an email Sunday that “no passengers or crew were treated or transported when the flight arrived.”

Flight UA2477 left George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston on time at 9:39 a.m. Sunday morning, according to the airline’s flight tracker, and was originally slated to land in Boston Sunday afternoon.

The plane, a Boeing 737-800, which has 155 passengers and six crew members, was then diverted to Washington Dulles International Airport and landed at 1:36 p.m., according to the airline. The flight’s passengers and crew were stopped for several hours while the plane was deep cleaned.

The flight left for Boston at 5:17 p.m., a spokesperson for the airline said Sunday night. The flight was scheduled to arrive in Boston at 2:35 p.m., according to the flight tracker.

The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement that the flight “landed safely” at Washington Dulles International Airport “after the crew reported a passenger medical emergency.” They referred all further questions to United Airlines.
