  • From private Family Suites to Majlis seating areas, Plaza Premium Lounge caters to a wide range of passenger needs, making it a competitive choice in DXB.

During my recent flight from Dubai to London, I had the chance to check out the Plaza Premium Lounge located in Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3, concourse A. This is one of the several lounges available in Terminal 3, which are accessible for Priority Pass members or, in my case, LoungeKey members.

The LoungeKey program is available with banks worldwide, and eligible cardholders can access a selection of lounges worldwide.

Accessibility

Since my gate for my flight was A2, it obviously meant I had to take the rail service to Concourse A after completing security checks. Considering the location of my gate, I had the option of accessing Plaza Premium Lounge, Ahlan Business Class Lounge, and the Marhaba Lounge, all of which were in close proximity to A2. Since I had already been to the latter two, I chose to try the Plaza Premium.

Review: Ahlan Lounge At Dubai International Terminal 3

Ahlan is an Arabic word used for greeting, which translates to “Hello” or “Welcome”.

While taking a train to Concourse A and then walking to the end of the concourse can take a little over five minutes, passengers requiring assistance can freely access wheelchairs or even buggy transfers to get to any place within the concourse, which makes accessing the lounge convenient.

Both Plaza Premium Lounge and The Marhaba Lounge are located in the same place, just on two different levels. Make sure you pick the right one inside the elevator.

Upon reaching the front desk, the staff greeted us and checked our boarding pass and our access card before signing us in. The whole process was smooth and only took a minute. Immediately upon entering the lounge, it became clear that this lounge facilitated various arrangements for solo travelers and group travelers, with various seating arrangements and facilities.

Various seating styles

Considering it was around 09:00 in the morning, it was not the busiest, but there were still quite a few passengers in the lounge. However, with various eating facilities available, there was plenty of space for everyone. From open seating (individual and group) to semi-private cubicles to fully private individual suites, there was something for everyone here.

Private Suites:

These suites are perfect for passengers traveling alone who wish to relax without being disturbed or get some work before their flight. Since I was flying with my parents this time, we chose to sit at one of the more communal tables close to the food service areas.

Food and drinks

Since it was mid-morning, breakfast service was still in full swing with various choices of breakfast meals and drinks available for passengers to help themselves to. From cereals to scrambled eggs and sausages to vegetable salads, they had it all. Paired with a selection of warm beverages, the options available were akin to those of breakfast dining at a luxury hotel.

In my case, I chose to have scrambled eggs, sausages, vegetable salad along with warm bread, some spicy olives, and jalapeños along with hummus. This, paired with a cup of café latte, became a wonderful breakfast.

Additionally, the lounge also comes with a fully stocked bar called AEROBAR, which is in a secluded area on its own, separate from the main lounge area. Here, passengers have the option to consume non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages (some of which are chargeable). Passengers also have the option to purchase additional snacks, such as sushi.

Passengers wishing to experience a traditional Arabic-Majlis experience can also relax in a Majlis-style seating area within the lounge.

Chilling in a Majlis, drinking Arabic coffee, and watching Airbus A380s taxi in and out of view on the apron, now that is a great way to unwind before a flight.

Amenities available

Apart from ample seating options and varied meal/beverage services, the lounge offers various facilities for passengers within the lounge. As is the standard for any airport lounge these days, free WiFi is available along with TV-screens displaying news and flight information along with magazines.

However, the lounge also has other amenities, such as shower rooms, prayer rooms, nursing rooms, kids’ play areas, and even an in-lounge shop full of luxury products.

Passengers also have the option to utilize services provided by FABRAM:

However, for passengers wishing to have complete privacy and relax in a space akin to that of a hotel room, the lounge offers the option of reserving a Family Suite. While this has additional costs, the suite is private for the passengers and can be reserved for up to six hours. It offers floor-to-ceiling privacy doors, and inside, it comes with a comfortable sofa and a huge TV screen.

So, for passengers traveling as a group or family, this would be the ideal place to relax and spend time before the upcoming flight.

Overall thoughts

The lounge is clearly comfortable and caters for the needs of all segments of travelers, which, considering the variety of passengers passing through DXB every day, definitely gives the lounge a competitive advantage. It offers facilities where passengers can relax, work, dine and refresh whether they are about to embark on their first flight of the day or catch their connecting flight.

The staff members at the welcome desk and inside the lounge were wonderful and helpful. The friendly staff members were always around to assist passengers, while ensuring the lounge remained in top condition.

But Plaza Premium is more than just a lounge as the organization is now transforming into an end-to-end facilitator for passengers.

In airports such as DXB, Plaza Premium also has an arrival lounge located in Terminal 3 called Their Patio, which is a super helpful facility, especially for passengers who wish to relax before heading home or wait at the airport for others. The best part is, First Class, Business Class, Priority Pass and LoungeKey members have access to the Plaza Premium Lounge in the departure concourses as well as the arrivals lounge. The review of this facility will be published soon.

Overall, the lounge is a perfect place to be before a flight, to relax away from the main concourse, and it is an incredible alternate lounge for passengers that do not have access to Emirates’ First Class or Business Class lounges.
