Will Changi Airport’s Terminal 5 Make Singapore The Ultimate Global Hub?

Singapore’s Changi Airport is set to begin constructing its highly anticipated Terminal 5 in 2025, significantly boosting its capacity. The new terminal aims to serve over 200 destinations, helping Singapore stay competitive against other major global airports, especially with the growing demand for travel in Asia.

T5 is expected to handle about 50 million passengers annually, increasing Changi’s capacity by around 60%. It will be built on a site almost as large as the current airport. However, it will also be a flexible terminal that can be divided into smaller sub-terminals as needed. After extensive terminal closures at Changi during and after the pandemic, a flexible model makes sense.
