Roger Berkeley has resigned from his position as vice president of Human Resources at Caribbean Airlines.

However Berkeley’s resignation is unrelated to the silent picket protest held by approximately 40 off duty pilots last Thursday at Piarco International Airport, Caribbean Airlines has said.

“Mr Berkeley has decided to leave the airline later this month and engage in new opportunities elsewhere. I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Roger for his dedication and service to the company during his tenure and wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” a notice from Caribbean Airlines’ chief executive officer Garvin Medera stated.

In August last year there were calls for Berkeley to be dismissed when pilots staged a sickout.

Pilots called in sick from August 18 to 20, 2023 after a Caribbean Airlines proposal to cut their flying hours which would mean lower wages.

The sick out action led to thousands of passengers being stranded, forcing Caribbean Arilines to seek an injunction from the Industrial Court instructing pilots to immediately return to work and refrain from calling in sick en masse.
