Alaska Airlines

has more than 6,000 flights in August to airports located near Disney parks in California and Florida. The Seattle-based carrier serves Los Angeles, Burbank, Orange County, Ontario, and Orlando. In Anaheim (Southern California), there are two parks, Disneyland and California Adventure, and passengers can fly to four airports in the region to visit the park. In Orlando, Disney has four theme parks and two water parks at Walt Disney World. In total, Alaska Airlines has 94 routes to these five airports.

Disney’s parks are famous worldwide, and millions travel each year to visit the parks in the United States and other countries. An estimated 28 million people visit the Disneyland Resort (which includes the California Adventure park) annually, while Disney World receives around 58 million people annually.

Earlier this month, Alaska announced it was expanding its winter network to include both ski and sun destinations. Boise is a city that is getting new routes to both Southern California and Florida, with service to John Wayne International Airport (SNA) and Orlando International Airport (MCO). SNA will be served daily year-round, while Orlando will be served thrice weekly from January to March 2025. Sacramento, the capital of California will also receive nonstop service to Orlando.

A brief overview of Mileage Plan

Alaska’s frequent flyer program is called

Mileage Plan

and has award fares starting a 5,000 miles one-way. The airline, in addition to being a member of the oneworld Alliance, has several partners and Mileage Plan offers flights to more than 1,000 destinations. A few highlights of the Mileage Plan program are below:

As mentioned above, Alaska Airlines has more than 6,000 flights in August to five airports located near Disney parks in the US. Data from Cirium, an aviation analytics firm shows that there are 12 routes under 700 miles, but only 11 are domestic, meaning award fares start at just 5,000 miles. The routes are:

  • San Francisco – Los Angeles
  • San Francisco – Orange County
  • Santa Rosa – Burbank

  • Loreto (Mexico) – Los Angeles (10,000 miles one-way)

One of the great features of Alaska’s website is that the airline has a calendar view for its award flights allowing passengers to easily find the lowest fares. As an example, we ran a search for the flight from Boise to Los Angeles, which in August ranges from 5,000 miles to 15,000 miles one-way. Using the calendar view easily helps find the 10 days next month which have flights for 5,000.

Contiguous US, Alaska and Canada: 701–1,400 miles

As the chart above shows, flights between 701-1,400 miles start at 7,500 miles, except international flights. Data shows that Alaska Airlines has 18 routes to the Southern California airports, and five of those are international. The routes are:

  • Redmond/Bend – Los Angeles
  • Eugene – Los Angeles
  • Portland – Burbank
  • Portland – Los Angeles
  • Portland – Ontario
  • Portland – Orange County
  • Seattle – Burbank

The international routes are:

  • San Jose del Cabo – Los Angeles
  • Mazatlan – Los Angeles
  • Puerto Vallarta – Los Angeles
  • Guadalajara – Los Angeles
  • Manzanillo – Los Angeles

The cheapest available flight from Spokane to Los Angeles in August is 6,500 miles one way, but there are only two dates with that price. Other days have flights for 7,500, 12,500, 15,000, 17,500, 19,000, and 20,000.

Contiguous US, Alaska and Canada: 1,401–2,100 miles

The third category in the table is flights between 1,401 and 2,100 miles, which includes just one route, from Mexico to Los Angeles, setting itself apart as all flights start out at 10,000 miles.

  • Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo – Los Angeles

Ixtapa-Los Angeles is the sole route in the third category by distance and has the same pricing, which starts out at 10,000 miles one-way. Flights are only available thrice weekly and the lowest available fare in August is 15,000 miles.

Contiguous US, Alaska and Canada: 2,101 miles and above

The final category is anything above 2,101 miles, which includes Alaska Airlines’ routes to Orlando. Of the 16 routes above 2,101 miles, six of them are international, connecting to five countries. Flights from Hawaii also have their own category, starting at 15,000 miles. The routes are as follows:

  • San Diego – Orlando
  • Washington Dulles – Los Angeles
  • Washington National – Los Angeles
  • Anchorage – Los Angeles
  • San Francisco – Orlando
  • Newark – Los Angeles
  • Kahului – Los Angeles
  • Portland – Orlando
  • Seattle – Orlando
  • Honolulu – Los Angeles

The international routes are:

  • Cancun – Los Angeles

Of this list, we ran a search for flights from Kahului (Maui) to Los Angeles, which start off at 15,000 miles one-way. During the entire month, only one day has a flight for 15,000 miles, August 28. For the rest of the month, flights range from 17,500 to 30,000.
