Lebanese airline Middle East Airlines (MEA) has canceled or delayed several flights to Beirut, citing insurance risks linked to the tensions caused by Israeli artillery and rocket strikes on Lebanese territory.

Additional delays were later announced for flights landing on Monday due to “technical reasons related to the distribution of insurance risks for aircraft between Lebanon and other destinations,” according to the company.

Data from the flight tracking website Flightradar24, cited by the newspaper, shows that Lufthansa and Eurowings cancelled three flights to Beirut scheduled for Monday afternoon, as indicated on the airport’s information board.

Turkish Airlines canceled two flights on Sunday night. SunExpress, Aegean Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, and MEA also canceled flights that were supposed to land in Beirut on Monday.

Israeli Air Force planes conducted a series of raids on southern Lebanon on Sunday, bombing four Lebanese cities. The Israeli attacks were a response to a rocket strike on the town of Majdal Shams in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights. The rocket exploded on a football field, killing at least 12 people, including children aged 10 to 16.
