American Airlines continues to significantly cut back operations at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), canceling flights to Boston, Las Vegas, Nashville, and Orange County.

After these changes, which are scheduled for late 2024 and early 2025, the carrier will only operate flights from Austin (AUS) to its eight domestic hubs in Charlotte (CLT), Chicago (ORD), Dallas (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), New York (JFK), Philadelphia (PHL), Phoenix (PHX). It will also maintain two leisure routes to Cancun (CUN) and Los Cabos (SJD) in Mexico.

According to Airways Magazine, the decision to cancel routes from Austin appears to be related to changing economic conditions. As flight demand decreased, the airline decided to focus only on the most profitable routes. In addition, since Austin is close to its main hub in Dallas-Fort Worth, many routes from AUS were no longer necessary.
