This week, United Airlines
announced that it would continue to grow its lounge network by building on its popular grab-and-go lounge which had opened at Denver International Airport (DEN) in 2022. These grab-and-go lounges, marketed by the airline as Club Fly, aim to serve passengers who prefer to access quick complimentary food, beverages, and other amenities rather than entering a full-service lounge.

The Chicago-based airline, which operates more than 50 lounges, will be opening its next Club Fly location in the early months of 2025 at its primary Latin American gateway hub at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). Throughout the past few weeks, according to The Points Guy, the airline has begun constructing the new lounge facility but has yet to begin marketing or promotions for it yet.

Little is known about the new lounge besides its location

The new lounge will be located within Terminal B at Houston Airport, a terminal that is frequented by connecting passengers who may need quick refreshments before their next flight. United Airlines has yet to respond to Simple Flying’s request for comment regarding additional details about the new facility.

What can we expect from this new lounge?

While few details have been confirmed about this new Club Fly, we can gain some insight into what will be offered by assuming that it will be similar to the one in Denver. The existing lounge at DEN, which is located between gates B61 and B63, is open daily between 7AM and 8 PM, and offers passengers an opportunity to grab snacks and recharge before their next flight.

The lounge is relatively small, at only 1,563 square feet, according to an analysis from One Mile At A Time. As a result, the lounge’s capacity is relatively limited, and it can only support 16 guests seated, with additional standing capacity around the full-service bar.

Access to the United Club’s grab-and-go Club Fly is available to anyone with lounge access to the entire network, but guests are not allowed inside. It is very easy to get into, as simply swiping your boarding pass will get you through the gates.

Once inside, you are free to go grab any of the prepackaged sandwiches, wraps, salads, and other food items that will be available, including a selection of desserts. In terms of beverage offerings, the lounge offers coffee (made by baristas), soft drinks, juices, and water.

A good addition to the United Club network

With over 50 locations, the United Club network has grown more diverse over the years. Now the carrier’s network includes three different kinds of premium lounges:

  • Polaris lounges
  • Standard United Club locations
  • Club Fly

Now, the airline has ultra-premium lounges for the highest-end travelers, standard lounges for everyday passengers, and Club Fly locations for those in need of quick refreshments. Furthermore, as the airline has decided to add these two lounges to Houston and Denver, two facilities that are major connecting hubs, Club Fly will be ideal for those in a rush between flights looking to grab something to eat or drink on the go.
