The Embraer Praetor 600 is a Brazilian-made super-mid-sized private jet. It is part of the Legacy 450/500 family, as is its sister aircraft, the Praetor 500. It is an improved version of the Legacy 500 with added range. Let’s find out more about the Praetor 600 and explore its range.
Early days
Flight testing took place between March and October 2018, when the three prototypes clocked up 300 hours. The Praetor 600 was first introduced in October 2018 and was certified in April 2019 by the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) followed suit and approved the aircraft in May 2019. The first delivery to a European customer took place the following month.

Aircraft range
The Praetor 600 has a range of 4,018 nautical miles that equates to 7,440 kilometers or 4,620 miles. Furthermore, the range of the aircraft with four passengers and with the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) reserves reached 4,018 nautical miles, 7,441 kilometers or 4,624 miles from a 4,436 feet take off and 3,719 nautical miles, 6,887 kilometers or 4,280 miles at Mach 0.80.
City pairs:
This impressive range gives the Praetor 600 an endurance of eight hours and the following city pairs can be achieved:
- New York to London
- Los Angeles to Honolulu
- São Paulo to Miami
- Dubai to Paris
- Denver to Nassau

Introduction to the aircraft
The Praetor 600 is a low-wing, T-tail aircraft with two rear-mounted turbofan engines. Its landing gear is designed for paved runways only. Distinguishing features include the tall wide winglets and the two fuel tanks in the fuselage belly that hold 15,986 pounds of fuel.
The aircraft is powered by Honeywell HTF7500E engines that produce 7,528 pounds of thrust. The Praetor 600 maximum speed is Mach 0.83 and the average cruise speed is 446 knots, 863 kilometers per hour or 536 miles per hour.

Flight deck and performance features
The glass cockpit has four multi-function displays and the flight management system (FMS) operates the autothrottle and autopilot and monitors the flight controls. The avionics suite is the Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion and the fly-by-wire flight control system is by Parker Hannifin.
The predictive windshear and vertical weather detect windshear conditions ahead of the landing and take-off phases.
The Synthetic Vision System (SVS) has a flight guidance system (SVGS) for CAT I airports approach with SBAS, allowing decision height to be reduced from 200 to 150 ft. In the US, the SVGS allows autopilot-flown instrument approaches down to 150 ft height and 1,300 ft Runway Visual Range (RVR).
Embraer also offers the optional Rockwell Collins Enhanced Vision System (EVS) and HGS-3500 Head-Up Display (HUD). These are combined with the EVS-3000 infrared camera for further situational awareness in low visibility and permits a decision altitude necessitating visual references of 100 ft above touchdown.
The Visionsafe Emergency Vision Assurance System (EVAS) allows the pilots to see the instruments and outside the windshield, should there be smoke in the cockpit.
The Praetor 600 is certified for day and night flying, VFR and IFR as well as being approved for Reduced Vertical Separation Minima (RVSM) airspace and CAT II ILS. It is also certified to fly into known icing conditions and extended flights over water as well as steep approach operations and high altitude airports up to 13,800 feet.
The interior
The Praetor 600 has a 6 feet tall, stand up cabin with a flat floor and can seat between eight and twelve passengers. The aircraft has the best in class cabin altitude and HEPA air filters.
The seats are fully reclining for extra comfort and there are pocket side tables for working or dining. There is an advanced entertainment system, an airshow system and there is superfast Ka-band Wi-Fi.
For the preparation of meals and drinks, there is a small refreshment center with a microwave oven. At the rear of the aircraft there is a fully enclosed lavatory and washroom. The temperature, lighting and sound can be controlled by the Honeywell Ovation Select Cabin Management System.
The Embraer Praetor 600 is comparable to the Bombardier Challenger 350, the Cessna Citation Sovereign, the Learjet 85 and the Gulfstream 280. It is still in production today and since 2019, over 90 of the aircraft have been delivered. The equipped price in 2023 was $21.995 million.
