Delta Air Lines has extended the suspension of flights between New York JFK Airport
and Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport until March 31, 2025, due to the volatile situation in the region. Delta Air Lines
joins American Airlines in suspending flights through March 2025, while United’s service remains suspended for the foreseeable future.
Safety and security concerns
The extension comes
as the situation in the Middle East remains tense
. Many airlines have canceled flights to Israel, Iran, and Lebanon due to ongoing conflicts. Flights have also been forced to reroute, avoiding Iranian and Lebanese airspace due to safety and security concerns. Delta updated its initial communication from July 31, noting that,

Delta further highlighted that the safety of its passengers and crew remains essential. Passengers should look out for possible adjustments to flights to Israel, as additional cancelations may be announced on a rolling basis.
Travel waiver and refunds
Delta has issued a travel waiver for all customers who had booked flights to/from Tel Aviv before March 31, 2025. Changes to origins or destinations may also result in a fare increase.
Flights between the US and Israel
Like many carriers worldwide,
Delta initially suspended flights to Israel last October
following the October 7 attacks. The airline resumed its Tel Aviv service on June 7, 2024,
operating daily flights from New York-JFK on the Airbus A330neo
. During the suspension, Delta customers had access to Tel Aviv through its codeshare with El Al from major US cities like New York, Boston, and Miami.
The service resumption followed an extensive security assessment by the US carrier. However, in August 2024, the airline canceled its flights to the Middle Eastern country as the conflict escalated. Flights were initially suspended until the end of August, then until December, and now until March 2025.
