How dnata Keeps The Dubai Airshow Running

With this year’s Dubai Airshow less than three days away from opening, airlines, aircraft manufacturers, and industry leaders are already gearing up for a week of displays, talks, and exciting new orders, all while in the company of millions of visitors.

From a logistical perspective, how do you pull off such an immense feat? Aviation services provider dnata has pulled back the curtain on its operational plans and support facilities this year.

From the ground to the skies

Based out of Dubai, dnata already has extensive experience on the ground, running passenger, cargo, and technical services for Dubai International Airport (DBX), airlines, and airports across the globe.

Its current commissioning for the Dubai Airshow, dnata is set to allocate a 100-strong fleet of ground support equipment (GSE) for airside safety operations, including its recently introduced TLD TPX100e electric narrowbody Aircraft Tractor, capable of supporting Airbus A321neo and Boeing 737 MAX 10 operations. A crew of 30 support staff will be on hand to manage operations, working around the clock to ensure the seamless execution of the airshow alongside Dubai’s authorities and event organizers.

However, the company isn’t simply staying hidden away in the shadows; in celebration of its work and continued commitments towards sustainability, dnata will be featuring its own display at the airshow. Visitors will be able to learn about dnata’s Airbus A380 turnaround operations at Dubai Airport and view the electric-powered Kalmar TBL800e Aircraft Tractor, aiding the airport’s transition to net zero emissions.

In a statement shared by the group, CEO Steve Allen noted the extensive work required to keep the Dubai Airshow a success, as well as dnata’s backend support,

“Dubai Airshow continues to be one of the world’s most prestigious aviation events. We take pride in playing a crucial role in ensuring that airside operations run efficiently throughout each day. Our commitment to safety, sustainability and service excellence will be on full display during the event, including exciting demonstrations of our electric pushback tractors. We look forward to connecting with our partners and the broader aviation community at the event.”

What’s on?

dnata is set to support some very exciting displays scheduled for next week, including an air display from Boeing featuring the Boeing 777-9 widebody commercial jet and its state-of-the-art F-15QA fighter, currently in service with the Qatar Emiri Air Force.

General Dynamics’ private aviation subsidiary, Gulfstream Aerospace, will similarly be exhibiting its next-generation offerings, with the G700 and recently certified G500 business jets open to viewing from the public.

Other displays include Embraer’s E190 regional jet, Airbus’ A321neo narrowbody, Dassault’s Falcon private aircraft, Israel Aerospace Industries Boeing 777-300ERSF “Big Twin,” and Emirates’ flagship Airbus A380 superjumbo.

Alongside its Airbus and Boeing widebody fleet, Emirates’ airshow display is set to feature its upcoming sustainable capsule collection of accessories, sourced from its ongoing retrofitting project, with several unique pieces available for viewing.

German-based Lufthansa Technik and Boeing Business Jets (BBJ) are also taking the opportunity to show off its 777-9 VIP cabin concept, CelestialSTAR, featuring over 3,659 square feet (340 square meters) of premium interior space.
