Summary
- Inflight entertainment usually involves seatback entertainment, but a Gospel singer named Bobbi Storm attempted to sing to the cabin on a recent Delta flight.
- The cabin crew leader asked Storm to stop singing and reiterated that passengers must follow crew instructions for safety.
- Delta has contacted Storm but it’s unlikely the airline will apologize for the crew member’s actions, as he was following the airline’s policies, despite Storm portraying herself as the victim on social media.
Inflight entertainment typically comes in the form of seatback entertainment; however, on a recent Delta Air Lines flight, Gospel singer Bobbi Storm attempted to sing her latest song to the rest of the cabin. However, the cabin crew leader was less than enthused and asked her to stop. The incident, widely circulated on Storm’s Instagram, outlines Bobbi reiterating to other passengers that her Christian singing group has been nominated as one of the best gospel albums and contemporary Christian music performance and song.
Once the seatbelt sign was off, Storm got up, stood in the aisle, and started singing her latest song; at that time, the cabin crew approached the singer and asked her to stop. After Storm took a seat, she spoke with other passengers around her, telling them about her recent Grammy nomination.
“I sing for the lord.”
While Storm emphasized that her act onboard was “doing what the Lord is telling me to do,” but the crew member stood his ground, outlining that Storm would not be allowed to continue on this flight if she did not follow crew instructions. As noted on multiple media outlets, Delta has since been in communication with Storm about the incident, and the airline reiterated, “For the safety of our customers and crew, it’s always important to follow crew instructions.”
While Storm was looking to promote her latest song, it could be deemed unfair that those ‘stuck’ on the aircraft had nowhere to go, even if they didn’t want to listen to Storm’s music. The cabin crew leader also proclaimed that he wasn’t enjoying her music and politely asked her to stop several times.
Re-emphasizing that Storm needs to follow all crew instructions, the singer then asked for other passengers’ feedback. However, the flight attendant continued to stand his ground and noted that if Storm didn’t listen, she would not be able to continue on the flight.
A call from Delta
Delta has since made contact with Storm, re-emphasizing that all passengers must listen to all crew instructions, and even though the extent of the call isn’t public, Storm posted on her social media that she was spreading her joy with others and that the flight attendant:
“(Storm) doesn’t want this man to be reprimanded where he loses his job, I simply want us to keep in mind how we treat each other,” and she hopes the flight attendant sees this so he’s “able to learn a valuable lesson”
Regardless of her enjoyable music, it was unfair for Storm to act superior to the crew, request other passenger feedback, and initially disobey crew instructions. And given Storm’s continued social media posts after the incident made out like she was the victim, I would presume Delta wouldn’t have apologized for the crew members’ actions, given he was simply following the airline’s policies.
