EgyptAir has ordered its first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, as the airline will take delivery of a total of 18 737 MAXs as part of a lease agreement with Air Lease Corporation (ALC). Deliveries are scheduled to occur between 2025 and 2026, with the airline leasing the aircraft for at least 12 years.
Split between Airbus and Boeing
The flag carrier of Egypt operates both Airbus and Boeing narrowbodies, with the airline flying 12 Airbus A220, three A320ceo, eight A320neo, seven A321neo, 28 Boeing 737-800, and one 737-800 converted freighter aircraft. Ch-aviation data showed that all 15 Airbus A321neo family aircraft are leased from AerCap, while only eight out of the 28 Boeing 737-800s are leased from aircraft leasing companies. The latest order would mean that EgyptAir would operate both the A320neo and 737 MAX aircraft families, becoming one of the few airlines that do so globally.
