Air Canada has embarked on a significant capacity increase for its Asia network, offering increased frequencies and bigger planes to some destinations, resuming some services early, as well as starting new routes. Hong Kong, Osaka, and Singapore are some of the destinations that are part of the carrier’s expansion plan in Asia.

More Asia flights starting December

Air Canada will increase flights to several Asian destinations starting this December and continue through the summer of 2024. The airline is making changes to its schedule after demand for these routes has increased, prompting a capacity increase. Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada, commented,

“This winter we are pleased to offer up to 57 flights per week between Canada and Asia, and up to 64 flights per week next summer. Air Canada will have up to double daily flights to Hong Kong and larger aircraft operating to Shanghai during the December holiday and Lunar New Year travel periods. Capacity to Japan increases by 96% this winter compared to last year. Next spring, seasonal Osaka flights resume earlier and larger aircraft will operate to Narita and Seoul.”

This was followed by its seasonal service resumption between Toronto and Mumbai via London Heathrow just in time for the massive Diwali festival in India. It is Air Canada’s only fifth freedom flight in which it can carry passengers between London and Mumbai.

The airline has also enhanced its summer 2024 schedule by announcing two new seasonal routes to Stockholm from its hubs in Toronto and Montreal.
