Dominican carrier Arajet officially launched its new route in Argentina today, with a direct flight between Santo Domingo Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) and Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport (EZE). This is the final route launched by the Dominican company in 2023 and the first time the two capital cities are connected directly.
One of the longest non-stop MAX 8 routes
To operate this nonstop route between Santo Domingo and Buenos Aires, Arajet is employing its fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. These narrowbodies have maximum ranges of 4,027 miles (3,500 nautical miles or 6,480 kilometers). Therefore, it is always interesting to see which commercial services test these next-generation airliners to the limit.

In addition, it will be able to connect to Montreal and Toronto in Canada, Mexico City and Cancun in Mexico, Guatemala City in Guatemala, San Jose in Costa Rica, San Salvador in El Salvador, and several destinations in the Caribbean. The plan is to make Santo Domingo Las Américas a new connectivity hub across the Americas, similar to what Icelandair does in Keflavik. According to its website, Arajet flies to 20 destinations in 15 countries. These countries are Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Canada, Argentina, Aruba, St. Maarten, Curaçao, Ecuador, Jamaica, Brazil, and Chile.

What can we hope for next year?
Arajet is most likely going to continue announcing new routes next year. The company must still receive authorization to launch its flights to and from the United States. It is looking to serve New York (JFK), Miami (MIA), and San Juan (SJU) in the first phase, although the ultimate goal is to fly to many more cities across the United States.

Across the Americas, there are other markets the airline has been linked to, such as Uruguay, Paraguay, more Brazilian cities, and Bolivia. However, any new route announcement will have to wait, as the company will not launch more routes for the remainder of the year. In the last few months, Arajet began flying to new destinations: Santiago de Chile (SCL), Toronto (YYZ), and Montreal (YUL).
What are the longest nonstop MAX routes available?
