New Delhi: In a bid to democratise air travel and make it more affordable for all travel categories, airlines offer special discounts for students enrolled on a course in an institution. Different airlines offer special airfares aimed to enable students to travel by air.

Akasa Air
- Rekha Jhunjhunwala-backed Akasa Air is offering up to 7 per cent off on base fare to students
- Students can also avail of extra baggage allowance of 10 kg over and above the 15 kg allowance
- The special fare is available only on one-way and return domestic flight bookings
- The discount is available to students aged 12-24 years
- Students must carry original copy of their ID card
- The discounts are available on first-come, first-served basis

Air India
- Air India offers student discounts to individuals of a minimum 12 years of age on the date of travel
- They must be enrolled in a full-time course for a minimum of 1 year
- They must be attending an educational establishment recognised, aided by, or affiliated to the central and state government
- Students must carry a valid ID card issued by their establishment
- The discounts apply only to economy class travel
- These tickets must be booked at least 3 days ahead of the date of departure
- The discount will not apply to Air India Express codeshare flights

Air India Express
- Students must be aged 12 years and above to avail of the special fare
- They may receive up to 6 per cent rebate on base fare and 10 kg additional check-in baggage allowance
- A valid photo ID card must be furnished at the check-in counter after the booking
- NeuPass members will earn up to 5 per cent NeuCoins on bookings made via Tata New app
Vistara
- Up to 10 per cent off on adult base fare for domestic economy standard and economy flexi bookings
- The student fare is applicable for travel by students aged 12 years and above
- The discount applies to only one-way domestic travel fares
- Travellers must book at least 7 days in advance
- Students travelling from domestic to international destinations may avail of additional baggage allowance. The same will apply on domestic to international one-way travel
- International to international travel is not eligible for excess baggage allowance
- There’s no discount on base fare for travel abroad

SpiceJet discount
- The budget carrier is offering discounts worth upto 10 per cent on all domestic flights and additional baggage upto 10 kg on all flights
- The scheme applies to all domestic one-way travel tickets
- Students must be aged 12 years and above to avail of the discount
