Andrew Levy, the Chairman and CEO of Avelo Airlines, said:

“This holiday season will be Avelo’s busiest since taking flight in 2021. And our planes are fuller than ever. We know our Customers are counting on us to get them and their bags to their Thanksgiving gatherings this week. Which is why we are so proud to head into this busy travel period as the industry’s most reliable airline.”

Avelo also handles customer baggage extremely well. Through October, the airline has mishandled only 3 per 1000 checked bags. A significant improvement over the industry standard of 7 per 1000 checked bags.

Avelo and its success

Avelo Airlines took to the skies in April 2021 and has gone from strength to strength since. The startup airline has expanded its fleet, and routes and has seen a year-on-year increase in passengers since it started selling tickets. Avelo has also been keeping true to its tagline (We help you fly for less so you can fly more), by becoming the first airline to incorporate PayPal’s buy now, pay later service.

The airline now features 65 destinations. The latest is a large milestone: a destination that is not in the continental United States. Avelo now operates flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico from Connecticut’s Tweed New Haven and Delaware’s Wilmington airports.

The airline operates in the ultra-low-cost category and operates a fleet of 16 Boeing 737NG aircraft, seven 737-700s, and nine of the larger 737-800s. Avelo has grown rapidly managed to maintain the quality of its service, and is reaping the benefits with more loyal customers.
