The Embraer Phenom 300 has, for years now, been the best-selling light business jet on the market and has continually been improved over time to keep offering one of the most customer-friendly products on the market. Since first taking to the skies in 2008 and being delivered to customers in 2009, the jet has had over 700 orders.
Since Embraer’s extremely popular Phenom 100 hit the market in 2007, the Brazilian manufacturer has been able to establish a strong position in the light jet market, something the Phenom 300 has played no small part in maintaining. However, in order to continue capturing such a strong share of the market’s demand, the manufacturer has continued to improve its popular Phenom 300 jet over the years.
In 2018, Embraer announced the latest upgrade to the Phenom 300 program, with the Phenom 300E boasting advanced avionics, among other improvements. Further upgraded variants were launched in 2020, including a special, purpose-built variant for medical evacuations. In this article, we will take a look at 5 key upgrades that the Phenom 300E offers over its predecessor.
1
Improvements in speed
Phenom 300E top speed: Mach 0.8 (roughly 613 miles per hour)
Aircraft type: |
Top speed: |
---|---|
Cessna CJ4 |
518 miles per hour |
Learjet 75 |
535 miles per hour |
Pilatus PC-24 |
406 miles per hour |
The Phenom 300E boasts several major improvements over its predecessor, but higher speed capabilities might be the most important. Business Jet Traveller hailed it as the most crucial upgrade the jet had to offer, as it improved the typical cruising speed of a Phenom 300 by nearly 100 miles per hour.

Furthermore, this provides the Phenom 300E with a significant advantage over its other competitors in the light jet category. Some of the most common competitors to the jet include the Cessna CJ4, Learjet 75, and the Pilatus PC-24, all light jets that do not even come close to matching the Phenom 300E’s speed.
Corporate travelers care heavily about the speed at which they are able to rapidly travel between their destinations. As a result, the Phenom 300E provides a key advantage, as it can efficiently and reliably transport its passengers to destinations at over 600 miles per hour.
2
New control systems
Avionics: Prodigy Touch Avionics
Another key upgrade to the Phenom 300E was the newest set of avionics, which make the aircraft even easier to fly than before and provide pilots with new analytical tools to help maintain optimal performance. The aircraft, one of the few light business jets capable of being flown by just a single pilot, has been equipped with the latest avionics that ensure an exhilarating flight experience while prioritizing passenger safety.
The aircraft offers first-of-its-kind runway overrun and alerting systems, in addition to multiple fully digitized displays. According to Aviation International News, additional features include predictive wind shear awareness systems and stabilized approach monitors. The avionics suite also offers a few new safety and redundancy systems, such as emergency descent mode, which can be deployed in the event of cabin depressurization.
3
Faster inflight connectivity
Internet system: Gogo Avance L5
Overwhelmingly, those flying by private jet are business or corporate travelers, for whom inflight connectivity is of the utmost importance. As a result, Embraer partnered with business jet internet provider Gogo Air in order to install the latest up-to-date communication systems on the Phenom 300E.

The Avance L5 system for the Phenom 300E was first approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for use in 2019. According to Gogo Air, the jet became the fifth Embraer private jet to offer the system, alongside the Legacy 450, Legacy 500, Praetor 500, and Praetor 600.

A one-of-a-kind product that draws on the company’s Brazilian roots
From time to time, Embraer has been known to offer unique themed cabins for their private jets. Named after the famous style of Brazilian jazz music, the Phenom 300E offered a unique “Bossa Nova” interior that was inspired by this particular musical style. This interior package comes with the manufacturer’s latest cabin upgrades, including carbon fiber accents and a style of seat sewing that has been dubbed “Ipanema.”
