Simple Flying recently enjoyed trying Qatar Airway’s signature business class product, the QSuite. My journey began at 19:00 Central European Time, when I checked in for flight QR38 from the French capital, Paris, to its Qatari counterpart, Doha. This was my first time flying Qatar Airways, so I was excited. It was also going to be my first transcontinental business class flight.

Ground experience
The baggage drop-off procedure was very efficient, taking just under five minutes. My boarding pass gave me access to what CDG Airport calls Nr 1 services, which is the premium package offered to frequent fliers and premium passengers traveling in premium economy, business class, or first class. Thanks to this, the immigration procedures only took a couple of minutes. I was then welcomed into the Qatar Airways business class lounge. I will go into more detail about it in another article. Still, some of the things you can look forward to inside are premium champagne and a restaurant-style dining experience.
I spent three hours in the lounge, which went by very quickly. At 09:30, staff members approached each customer, advising them that boarding would begin shortly and suggesting we leave the lounge and clear security to access our gate.
Getting onboard
Waiting at gate 22 was a 2018-built Boeing 777-300ER registered A7-BET.

According to Aerolopa, business class is laid out in a 1-2-1 configuration, with each passenger given a private, fully enclosed suite. The center rows are unique – if reserved as a couple, they will turn into a double bed. They can also be reserved for four people and become a unique socializing space marketed as “The Quad” by Qatar Airways.
My seat for this five-hour and fifty-minute trip was 1K, a rear-facing seat. Although this alignment feels weird during takeoff, it is ideal for aviation enthusiasts as it is considerably closer to the window. The signature Diptyque amenity kit contained various creams, and a small perfume bottle was on my seat.

Flight Review: Qatar Airways Airbus A350 Qsuites Business Class Los Angeles To Doha
Qatar’s Qsuite is considered to be about the best business class out there; let’s see how it performs in 2022.
The pre-boarding experience: where the luxury truly begins.
The excellent cabin crew directed me to my suite and took my order for a welcome drink – either champagne or their signature lemon and mint mocktail. I went for both. The champagne was by far the most interesting I have ever tasted – a vintage 2006 Rosé Duval Leroy – the best way to describe it was like honey, grapes (obviously), and notes of flowers. The texture of the drink was incredibly smooth. The signature lemon and mint was divine – it tasted very similar to a mojito but a lot less sugary. Both drinks were the perfect way to start the flight. Just before takeoff, the crew came to take my orders for the food during the flight.

A four-course meal: fine dining in the skies
I was surprised to receive an amuse bouche a few minutes later – it was a tasty piece of beef in a mustard-like sauce. The “real” meal started with the signature Arabic meze served as we reached cruising altitude. And to go with my entrée, more of that divine champagne, please!
Although the food tasted very fresh, and you could tell that the catering made an outstanding effort at preparing the dish, it wasn’t to my taste. The only element of the meze that I truly liked was the hummus.
After that, I was served a Qatari meal prepared by Chef Noor, a star chef based in Doha. I firmly believe in the saying “when in Rome, eat pasta”: this means always favoring the local cuisine of the country you visit.
It was light and flavorsome, the best meal I have been served on an airplane.

Many South Asian readers will be familiar with Biryani’s taste and consistency. This Qatari dish is similar, except it isn’t very spicy. Shortly after that, the crew removed my plate, which I had cleared, and put the table away for me.
Keeping myself entertained in flight
This meant it was time for me to try the inflight entertainment. Like every other passenger, I was given a set of Qatar Airways Oryx One-themed noise-canceling headsets.
I put them on, and they had a very satisfactory noise cancellation. It was beneficial because I could quietly watch Top Gun: Maverick – a must for an aviation enthusiast flying long hauls.
When the movie ended, I went to the lavatory to freshen up and asked the crew to prepare my bed with the turndown service. I requested they wake me up 2 hours before landing so I could enjoy breakfast.
A good night’s sleep at 450,000ft
The bed was made and was incredibly comfortable; I slept for a good two and a half to three hours. The crew woke me up for breakfast in what felt like an instant.

Unfortunately, my seat then broke. Luckily, there was an unoccupied suite in 4J, so the crew let me settle there for the remainder of the flight. The breakfast was then laid out; it was a set of dim sum with fresh noodles – by far the most exciting breakfast I have ever had.
The crew then cleared everything away and let the passengers relax for another fifty minutes before the cabin had to be prepared for landing. Bringing to a close the QSuite experience on the flight between London and Doha
Bottom line
I tried Qatar Airways’ QSuite on a Paris to Doha flight. It was efficient, with an excellent cabin crew, comfortable suites, and enjoyable inflight entertainment. The food was fresh and flavorsome, and the bed was comfy. Overall, it was a great experience. If you can ever try the Qsuites for yourself, you absolutely should. It is quite unlike any other business class product out there.
