SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — People who want to fly to Washington, D.C. will now have a new option out of the San Diego International Airport (SAN).
On Wednesday, Alaska Airlines announced the addition of nonstop flights to Reagan National Airport (DCA). The service route is one of five new flights added to DCA under the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act, which was approved on Wednesday.
Prior to the announcement, SAN had no nonstop service to DCA.
“The San Diego region has waited for a very long time for an opportunity to restore nonstop air service to Reagan National Airport,” said Kim Becker, the president and CEO of SAN.
The bill now heads to President Joe Biden’s desk for his signature.
