Major car accident on Airline Road leaves two dead

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Around 12:30 a.m. on May 19, officers responded to a major car crash involving a motorcycle and a truck on Airline Road, which shut down portions of the road overnight.

The motorcycle was traveling south in the 1500 block of Airline Road. The truck was traveling north and was attempting to turn west into a private drive when the crash occurred.

The truck failed to yield the right of way and struck the motorcycle.

The 32-year-old male operator’s motorcycle was in the roadway, and he was deceased at the scene. The motorcyclist’s passenger, a 30-year-old female, was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries, where she later passed away.

The driver of the truck, 52-year-old Carmen Guevara, remained at the scene and was later transported to a local hospital as well for questioning.

He was arrested and charged on two counts of intoxicated manslaughter.

According to a statement from CCPD, no names were given of the victims who passed away.
