Summary
- JFK seeking partners for upscale lounges in new Terminal One development to enhance guest experience.
- Seven global airlines already committed to occupying the new terminal with international services.
- Project leaders aiming for top five terminal ranking globally, prioritizing diversity and sustainability.
New York JFK International Airport (JFK) is looking for lounge operator partners for its upcoming New Terminal One (NTO) project. The ambitious development’s first phase is currently scheduled to open in 2026 and, upon completion in 2030, will become JFK’s largest terminal facility.
JFK New Terminal One lounge requests
The New Terminal One at JFK has launched a request for proposals (RFP) for two lounges spaces, one consisting of 9,100 sq ft after security and the other a 4,000 sq ft space before security. The $9.5 billion first phase of development, part of a wider $19 billion regeneration plan in partnership with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, is well underway and will realize what is hoped to be the centerpiece of a global standard-setting JFK Airport.

The New Terminal One at JFK Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Simon Gandy said,
“To support our ambition to be among the top five terminals in the world, we are seeking lounge partners who share our mission to create extraordinary moments for our guests as they journey through the largest dedicated international terminal at JFK.”
The larger 9,100 sq ft lounge is described as being “very close” to the security checkpoint and is located at the heart of the terminal’s headhouse. Proposals will be required to follow the project’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) targets, defined as 30% minority and women-owned and 10% local business participation.
Seven airlines committed
So far, seven global carriers – Air France, Air Serbia, Etihad Airways, EVA Air, KLM, LOT Polish Airlines, and Korean Air – have agreed to occupy the new terminal, which is expected to be dominated by European and Asia-Pacific services.

Project leaders have stated their aim of consistently being ranked one of the top five terminals in the world by Skytrax – it will face tough competition from the likes of Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and Hamad International Airport (DOH), which topped the latest awards. Interestingly, fellow NY-area airport, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), was recently recognized for its new $2.7 billion Terminal A opening by taking home Skytrax’s World’s Best New Airport Terminal Award.
Full completion by 2030
The New Terminal One project broke ground in November 2022 and will feature 23 gates and over 300,000 sq ft of dining, shopping and lounge space, becoming the airport’s largest terminal.
