Delta deploys 767 on JFK-Shannon route
Delta Air Lines has reinstated service to Shannon and will be using a different aircraft this time around. When it last operated flights to Shannon Airport (SNN) back in 2019, its Boeing 757-200 fleet was doing the heavy lifting on a route it had served since 2006. Now, passengers will be flying on a widebody 767-300ER featuring four Delta products: Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin.

Mary Considine, CEO of The Shannon Airport Group, commented,
“We are delighted to welcome Delta Air Lines back to Shannon Airport today for the first time since 2019. This new service to New York-JFK is a significant boost for our airport and a further endorsement of the growing demand for transatlantic seats into Shannon. The additional capacity provided by the use of the larger Boeing 767-300 aircraft will provide even more choice for passengers in this region and inbound visitors, travelling to explore the vibrant tourism offering along the Wild Atlantic Way. This direct service also provides increased business connectivity for our customers.”
The airline will be offering approximately 3,000 weekly seats on this daily route – the switch to a bigger aircraft will add an overall 3,600 seats to this seasonal service, which will ultimately deliver up to 46,000 passengers through Shannon this summer.

Shannon was the first airport in Ireland that Delta flew to back in 1986. Delta also operates direct flights to Dublin with a year-round service from New York JFK, along with seasonal flights from Atlanta, Boston and a newly-launched route from Minneapolis.
More convenient travel
Much like at Dublin Airport (DUB), Shannon has a dedicated Pre-clearance facility which significantly improves the experience for transatlantic travelers. Additionally, passengers will benefit from the newly installed Mobile Passport Control App, which allows them to go through much of the pre-clearance process digitally on their devices, helping to cut down times at the airport.

Dublin Airport has also introduced the handy app for US-bound passengers.
It also installed the world’s first combined European and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) compliant checkpoint system in 2016 to further speed up the passenger experience. Shannon Airport will be offering travel on over 30 routes to 11 countries this year – other US connections available include year-round flights to Boston and New York JFK with Aer Lingus, as well as seasonal services to Chicago and Newark with United Airlines.
The schedule
The route will operate on a daily basis with a red-eye outbound service from New York, followed by a midday return the next day from Shannon.
