TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Singapore Airlines SQ321 flying from London to Singapore experienced severe turbulence on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The incident left one person dead on the spot and dozens of others injured. The Boeing 777-300ER plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Thailand, at 03:45 p.m. local time.

Turbulence is a natural phenomenon that can occur during any long-haul flight, but it could range from simply annoying to terrifyingly fatal. Severe turbulence can rattle a plane so violently that it rises and falls as much as 100 feet (30 meters) at a time. This phenomenon is unpredictable as it’s weather-related. However, severe turbulence is likely to occur more frequently as climate change continues to alter weather patterns.

  1. Indonesian Actress Raline Shah Attends Cannes Film Festival for the Third Time

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian actress Raline Shah attended the Cinema of Indonesia event which is part of the official program of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. The program, which aims to introduce various national film releases on the world market, was initiated by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendikbud) and the Indonesian Film Producers Association (APROFI) .

“My presence at this event is to provide support to the Indonesian film industry which is increasingly proud of its extraordinary film works, even winning various world awards,” said Raline Shah in a press release received by Tempo on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

TEMPO.CO, CairoIsraeli forces killed at least 60 Palestinians in aerial and ground bombardments across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, May 23, and battled in close combat with Hamas-led militants in areas of the southern city of Rafah, health officials and Hamas media said.

Israeli tanks advanced in Rafah’s southeast, edged towards the city’s western district of Yibna, and continued to operate in three eastern suburbs, residents said.
