Passengers on an IndiGo flight were forced to evacuate at Delhi International Airport (DEL) following a bomb threat on May 28, 2024.

Flight 6E2211 was bound for Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport (VNS) in Varanasi, carrying 174 adults and two children.

According to a report by The Times of India, a note was found at 05:00 local time in the lavatory of the A320 that read, “bomb@5:30”.

The flight, which had a scheduled departure of around 05:30, had already completed boarding and had pushed back from the gate.

Flight crew immediately commenced evacuation of passengers using the aircraft’s emergency slides.

Video footage of the evacuation was captured and shared across social media.

The video shows that all slides on the A320 were deployed and passengers can be seen sliding down and walking off the runway.

In one clip an elderly woman can be seen standing on top of an aircraft wing and being led by a flight attendant to an emergency slide so she can evacuate.

Another piece of footage captures passengers evacuating with their personal belongings and luggage, which is prohibited in an emergency evacuation.

All 176 passengers were evacuated safely and the aircraft was moved into an isolation bay for investigation.

The bomb threat turned out to be a hoax, and the flight eventually departed at 11:10 AM.
