Law enforcement agencies arrested a Bangladeshi cabin crew member of Saudi Airlines on Tuesday night at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, seizing nearly two kilograms of gold.
The arrested individual, identified as Rokeya Khatun, was apprehended following the arrival of a Saudi Airlines flight at around 10pm.
A joint team from the Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn), Customs, and National Security Intelligence (NSI) conducted the operation after the flight landed, stated Mohammad Ziazul Haque, additional superintendent of police of APBn.
The law enforcement team recovered 11 gold bars, eight bangles, and a chain, collectively weighing approximately 1,968 grams, from the cabin crew member during a search at the customs green channel.
A case has been filed against Rokeya Khatun at the Airport Police Station, confirmed the APBn officer.
