Flynas launches Dammam-Najaf

Flynas successfully inaugurated the new route between King Fahd International Airport (DMM) and Al Najaf International Airport (NJF) on Saturday – the first flight departed Dammam at 08:00, arriving in the Iraqi city of Najaf at 09:12. Various officials, including the Saudi Ambassador, Abdul Aziz Al-Shammari, were onboard the flight, which was met by the Governor of Najaf and a traditional water cannon salute upon arrival in Najaf.

It is hoped that the new route will help to facilitate economic and tourism growth between the two regions. In fact, talks are underway to establish a special trade route between Najaf and Saudi Arabia, while Iraqi authorities are keen to attract Saudi investors to their country. As reported by Iraqi News Agency, Najaf’s Governor, Youssef Maki Kanawi, said,

“Expanding the scope of air services between the two countries reflects the positive development in bilateral relations and enhances economic and touristic ties between the two sisterly nations.”

The flight was operated by one of the airline’s Airbus A320neo jets, registered as HZ-NS46, which can seat up to 174 passengers in an all-economy configuration.
