AEGEAN, the Greek national airline and member of the STAR ALLIANCE, has established its direct flights between Athens and Sarajevo, it was announced from Sarajevo International Airport.

The first AEGEAN flight from Athens landed last night at 21:30 local time on the runway of Sarajevo International Airport, where representatives of Sarajevo Airport, accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Greece to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ioanna Efthymiadou, welcomed the AEGEAN delegation.

The friendly staff of the airport wished the passengers from Athens a warm welcome with symbolic gifts that were handed to them when they got off the plane.

Alan Bajić, director of Sarajevo International Airport, expressed his satisfaction with the establishment of the new line.

– This is an important step for connecting Sarajevo with Athens and the wider travel network offered by AEGEAN. We are looking forward to continuously providing our citizens with even more opportunities for travel, but also to being able to promote Sarajevo as an attractive destination for tourists from Greece – he said.

– We are pleased to have established our new direct line from Athens to Sarajevo, continuing the increase in connectivity and expansion within the Balkan area. From today, passengers departing from Sarajevo Airport, whether flying for leisure or business, will have the opportunity to fly directly on one of our planes and land in Athens in just one hour and 15 minutes. At the same time, travelers from Greece or our international network will have the opportunity to visit Sarajevo and explore its beauties. On the occasion of our 25th anniversary, I want to take this opportunity to assure you that we will continue to provide an outstanding experience to our passengers, while increasing connectivity and driving economic growth in attractive destinations – said Pepi Stamati, Deputy CCO for Network and Revenue of AEGEAN.

Regular flights between Sarajevo and Athens are planned from June 1, 2024 until the end of September 2024, twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
