  • Trump still operates a Boeing 757-200 after leaving office, used for the 2016 Presidential campaign.

The Former 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, has apparently sold his famous Cessna Citation X. The jet has been sold to a large Republican donor, who is also a real estate developer that is based in Dallas, Texas.

Currently, Trump also operates a Boeing 757 business jet, so he no longer has a pressing need for his Citation X. This sale also comes just months after the conclusion of a trial that resulted in a $454 million fine to the former President.

Business jet sale

Donald Trump operated a small fleet of aircraft for several years before running for President of the United States.

According to the Trump Organization, Trump’s fleet currently includes a Boeing 757 business jet and several Sikorsky S76 helicopters. However, until recently, Trump also operated a Cessna Citation X, the first aircraft he purchased. The Citation X, purchased in 1991, was the fastest business jet in the world when he bought it.

The sale of Trump’s Citation X allegedly occurred in March, for a sale price of approximately $2.5 million, per AIN Online. Prices of the Citation X can reach up to $12 million depending on how many flight hours the jet has, although Global Air listed the average listing price at just under $6 million, for a total of $5,795,000.

Other factors affecting the sales price include how well-kept the business jet has been over its lifetime, how outdated the aircraft’s systems and interior may be, and how many landings the jet has had over the years. According to AIN Online, President Trump’s Citation X has logged more than 11,500 flight hours.

Sold to a Dallas real estate developer

President Trump officially sold his aircraft in March to MM Fleet Holdings LLC. The agent of MM Fleet Holdings LLC is Mehrdad Moayedi, according to Open Corporates.

Moayedi is a prominent real estate developer in the Dallas, Texas, area. He is also listed as the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Centurion American Development Group, which develops real estate.

According to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Moayedi has contributed several thousand dollars to Republican candidates. Specifically, in 2019 and 2020, he contributed nearly $250,000 to a Trump political action committee (PAC) called Trump Victory.

In addition to his contributions to President Trump’s presidential campaign, Moayedi has contributed to other PACs over 200 more times. This includes over $100,000 in total contributions to the Republican National Committee PAC and $50,000 to the Cruz 20 For 20 Victory Fund PAC.

The sale of the former President’s smallest private jet comes shortly after the New York Court fined him over $450 million. The court found that President Trump committed fraud by overvaluing his assets by more than $350 million.

About the Citation X

As previously mentioned, Donald Trump’s Cessna Citation X was originally manufactured and purchased in 1991. This specific aircraft, registered as N725DT, can hold about eight passengers. The Citation X can hold a maximum of twelve passengers, meaning the interior is luxuriously customized.

The Citation X was first developed in the late 1980s. Prior to its release, Citation jets were known to be slower and easier to handle than other business jets like the Learjet. However, the release of the Citation X changed the image of the Citation jet family of aircraft.

The Citation X would go on to set many speed records, and it was considered the fastest business jet in the early 2000s.

The Citation X has the following specifications:

Length

72.53 feet

Height

19.2 feet

Wingspan

63.6 feet

Maximum takeoff weight (MTOW)

36,100 pounds

Maximum speed

Cruise speed

Range

Cessna developed the Citation X to use two Rolls-Royce AE 3007C turbofan engines. These each provide nearly 6,500 pounds of thrust force and help the aircraft reach its high maximum speed. The Citation X is powered by the Honeywell Primus 2000 EFIS flight director system. Later variants of the aircraft, which were designated the Citation X+, utilized the Garmin G5000 glass cockpit.

The remainder of Trump’s fleet

Beyond the now-sold Citation X, Trump Aviation also operates its flagship aircraft, a Boeing 757-200, popularly dubbed ‘Trump Force One.’

This aircraft, registered N757AF, was first built in 1991. However, Sterling Airlines was the original owner, and several other owners had taken control of the aircraft before Trump bought it in 2011. Two Rolls-Royce RB211 engines power N757AF and can fit approximately 43 passengers in its large cabin space.
