Summary
- Get 85,000 points this month by spending $3,000 on Southwest cards for 3 round trips.
- Points count towards the coveted Companion Pass, offering 10,000 extra points yearly.
- Various card benefits include 2X points on local transport, streaming services, and discounts on inflight purchases.
Until June 26th, Southwest Airlines is offering an upgraded promotion on its US credit cards. The latest offering includes 85,000 bonus points after reaching the required minimum spend, which the airline suggests is worth three round-trip domestic trips.
85,000 bonus points this month
The offer applies to all three of Southwest’s credit cards, which are offered by Chase. To receive the bonus Rapid Rewards points, new card members must spend $3,000 on purchases within the first three months of opening the account. This is up from the previous bonus of 50,000 points, which could be acquired after spending $1,000 over the same time period.
The points will notably count toward the airline’s coveted Companion Pass. Members must fly 100 qualifying one-way flights or earn 135,000 qualifying points to earn the pass. With the upgraded promotion, the signup bonus alone accounts for over half of the necessary points.

Additionally, all Southwest Rapid Rewards cardholders earn a boost of 10,000 Companion Pass qualifying points each calendar year, and all qualifying spend on the card counts toward the Companion Pass.
What else do you get?
The additional benefits vary between the three cards, which come at varying price points. At a minimum, all cardholders will receive the following perks:
- 2X points per $1 spent on local transit and commuting purchases, including rideshares.
- 2X points per $1 spent on Rapid Rewards hotel and car rental partners, so you can continue earning points while enjoying your journey
- 2X points per $1 spent on internet, cable, phone services, and select streaming services.
- 1x point per $1 spent on everyday purchases.
- 25% back on inflight purchases
- 10,000 boost of Companion Pass qualifying points each year.
